Preliminary results on Livestock - Environment - livelihood interactions in watersheds

atershed Development Programmes (WDPs) were conceived as tools for correcting the regional imbalances in agricultural development created by Green Revolution, through investments in soil and water conservation (SWC) and natural resource management (NRM) in rainfed areas. The WDPs have evolved from being purely technically oriented SWC programmes to more integrated and participatory programmes aiming at NRM with organisation of beneficiaries (watershed plus) and more recently targeting livelihood improvement (watershed plus plus). The following section offers some preliminary results of the LEAD India study that includes the impact of livestock at watershed level and policy recomendations.
