To the LEAD India Announcements List

elcome to the LEAD Watersheds and Land Degradation (WLD) Team List. Watersheds have become recognised as a key and discrete development unit for rural development in India.LEAD India Announcements List The livestock - watershed interactions are not well understood particularly with reference to issues such as rural poverty, gender and environment. There is also a fast growing demand for livestock products and the increasing dependency on livestock for sustainable livelihood systems, particularly in the rural areas. Therefore, a critical understanding of and the need for evolving appropriate measures to promote livestock while preserving the natural resource base is imminent for countries such as India.

This is an open moderated list. The purpose of this list is to facilitate the exchange of information, discuss and develop ideas, strategies, concepts, policy elements etc. to ensure effective utilisation of livestock resources in the context of watersheds livelihood systems in arid and semi arid areas of India.
